This particular kit can be modified to use a Thermowell Tee to monitor the temperature of your wort while it's chilling.
When paired with a RAPT Bluetooth probe and your BrewZilla Gen 4, you'll be able to track and log how long your brewday is by accounting for the chilling time! Cool right!!

Specification:
5.6m Length
Inlet / Outlet Size 9.5mm duotight compatible barbs
3 x Rubberised Feet
1 x Hinged Hanger (for BrewZilla Handles)

Recommended Cleaners:
KL05494 - StellarClean PBW 1kg Powder (Optimum 80°C) minimum contact time 5minutes. Remember to change the flow back and forth to really get the deepest clean possible. Rinse with the same temperature water.

We would always recommend to recirculate your last 15 minutes of the boil in your Red Reaper to sanitise it before applying cold water to the chiller.

The Red Reaper Counterflow chiller is the latest homebrew chiller on the market.
This particular CFC uses PEX tubing that is swaged/soldered to the copper wort pipe. This not only provides a superior method of connection compared to a clamp, but also ensures a lifetime guarantee that the mains water you're using to chill your wort down will never get to the pressures requires for the PEX to break.

Paired with the duotight 9.5mm range, you'll be able to attach your hose / camlock fittings within seconds.

What is PEX?
PEX tubing, short for cross-linked polyethylene, is a flexible plastic pipe used as an alternative to traditional copper or steel pipes for plumbing.

Well, it sure does the job!

"The Red Reaper Counter Flow Chiller is a game changer in terms of Wort chilling. Its amazing how much cooler the wort was going right into the fermenter. With easy to connect cam lock fittings on the supply lines and garden hose fitting on the water lines its a fantastic upgrade for the brewing rig!"

Big upgrade, still working out best way to use it

"This was a big upgrade to using an immersion chiller, but I'm still working out how to best utilise it. Kegland have been extremely helpful in providing tips. Top tip so far is to use a whirlpool arm to help avoid pulling any hop debris into the counter flow chiller. The red reaper has a solid build that I expect to last for a long time. Its a bit of a game to setup and clean each brew day compared with the immersion chiller, but definitely cools wort faster."

Great cf chiller

"Great cf chiller. Easy set up and works well (even with Brisbane’s bloody hot ground water atm. ) The temperature monitoring thing isn’t great though. Got clogged at the drop of a hat (ESB level of hops, same again for a helles). Have pulled off that first temp monitoring and just run without it. Only reason for 4 not 5 stars."

Better than immersion chiller

"Bought this as getting work down to a reasonable temperature in Queensland was a chore. Normally would take about an hour on a 30c day when ground water is 28c, and thats using another immersion chiller in a ice filled bucket. The Red Reaper took about half that time. One word of caution don't hook it onto your Brewzilla as once you empty the wort it becomes unbalanced and will tip over. Overall a good buy would recommend especially if doing small batch brewing as immersion chiller is only partially submerged in hot wort"

This is a neat unit

"This is a neat unit that I bought to speed up the wort cooling process. I’d previously used a stainless immersion chiller, with tap water pre-cooled by passing though a garden hose coiled in an ice bath, and that took forever. One thing that slightly disappointed was that I bought a thermowell tee to incorporate in the wort line, but it was not immmediately appparent that I needed part no. KL45735 (Rigid Stainless Steel Joiner) to accomplish this. I ordered this low-cost item separately, and the freight charge was many time the item's value. I've raised this with Kegland, and they've agreed to look at a heads-up to future thermowell tee buyers. First use a couple of days ago indicated that it was indeed quicker than my garden-hose-fed immersion chiller, but I may have to experiment further with water pressure throughput to get it to chill even quicker. It took 15 minutes, with tap water passed through a pre-chiller (the old immersion chiller!) in an ice bath before it got to the Reaper, and wort recircultaed back into the kettle, to chill 32 litres wort freshly off the boil to 25 degrees. Well, here's another problem I need to look further into: my tried-and-tested probe thermometer, pushed firmly into the thermowell tee, said 25, but when I drained the wort into my fermenting vessel in readiness for yeast pitching, the temperature was actually 33! Why the difference I have no idea, but I'll be on the lookout for it next brew. It took a very long time for my fermenting fridge to cool the wort to my preferred pitching temperature of 20, so I pitched earlier and warmer, and trust all will be well. The vigorous fermentation frothing indicates that it is. Perhaps I should have waited until after my 2nd use of the Red Reaper before posting this review, as I feel improvement are quite likely. But I’ve found that if you leave it too long, the invitation to review is withdrawn."

Inhouse review from someone who uses them all

"Absolute beast, much much faster than my Coolossus G2. Plus way easier to clean than a plate chiller. (tbh I've thrown out my plate chiller now, it's too hard to get clean. ) I've been lucky enough to use the prototypes of these, small modifications that were a must were the stronger hanging arm and a bit longer. The thermoprobe tee to use the RAPT Bluetooth probe is extremely useful. I can now log my chill rate in the RAPT profile for that brewday. I miss not being able to use StellarSoda on my entire brewery, but it makes up for it in speeding up my brew days."

Little Reaper

"Can't wait to use it this Friday it's a little tight for the water connections"

Excellent product

"Very happy with the red reaper, significantly faster than using an immersion chiller."

Q&A

Hi. Does this need a pump to work properly? Can it work with gravity? Cheers.
