This is a heartfelt tribute to the timeless pale ales that built the craft beer scene. Brewed with a classic trio of American hops, Old Mate is a perfectly balanced, no-nonsense beer that's big on flavour and character. It’s the ultimate crowd-pleaser and the perfect keg to have on tap for any occasion.

Flavour Profile & The Experience

Tasting Notes

Pouring a brilliant golden amber, Old Mate greets you with a classic American Pale Ale aroma of fresh grapefruit, orange peel, and a wave of piney resin, courtesy of a generous helping of Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops. The first sip reveals a perfect harmony between hop and malt; a firm, satisfying bitterness with notes of citrus and pine is beautifully balanced by a solid backbone of biscuit and light caramel malts. It all finishes refreshingly bitter, crisp, and clean, inviting you back for another.

A True Aussie Classic

Old Mate is the beer you can bring to any party, the one that satisfies the die-hard craft fan and the newcomer alike. It’s a testament to the fact that you don’t need gimmicks when you have quality and balance. This is the keg you tap for a backyard barbie, to watch the footy with your mates, or to pair with a classic pub parma. It’s a proper pale ale, done right.

Great Beer with a taste

"A crisp, citrusy pale with a smooth malt base and a refreshing finish. Light enough for an easy session, flavourful enough to keep it interesting. Always a solid craft pick. ⭐ Option 3 — Fun, Moonchild‑Coded A sunshine-in-a-glass pale ale with zesty citrus vibes, gentle bitterness, and that classic Moon Dog playfulness. Super drinkable, crowd‑friendly, and a perfect middle ground between “I want flavour” and “don’t make it too crafty”. If you want, I can tailor it for wholesalers, customers, your tap list, or a social post with your Moonchild voice."

Ripped off

"Terrible product, no matter what PSI, line length, temperature or amount of burping and pouring it is all just foam, I want money back"

Good beer, weird format

"Great beer, it was really enjoyable at the party. But damn this thing requires some assumed knowledge to use. And when you're finished with it, I *think* you dispose of the whole empty keg in the recycling bin. But that wasn't crystal clear. Some more detailed instructions should be included on the keg."

"Great beer for a Sunday afternoon, goes down well with good flavour, but hard to knock a few back"
