FermZilla -  27L

The new and improved FermZilla 27L brought to you by the critical key minds and engineers behind the original Gen1. But with all the tweaks that make it the most cost-effective conical fermenter to date!

The new FermZilla is a revolution in home brewing allowing home brewers and small micro-breweries a level of control that meets everyone's budget.  With the FermZilla you have the many of the benefits of a much more expensive stainless conical fermenter but with the additional benefit of being able to see the fermentation process in action and also ferment at pressures up to 2.4bar.
This is an incredible product at an extremely attractive price point and available in FermZilla 27L and FermZilla 55L sizes.

Add the optional pressure kit to your FermZilla 27L and turn your FermZilla into a true uni tank.
Uni tanks are conical fermenters used both for fermentation and for carbonating and serving finished beer.
This extremely inexpensive upgrade will truly show you what the FermZilla was designed for

Please note:
When using this vessel under pressure. You must perform a water pressure check to ensure your connections are leak proof. To do this. Fill your FermZilla up with water, then apply a minimum of 15psi pressure to the vessel. Check for leaks around all Cap / Threads.

Occasionally these units may come with some small indentations/dimples/dents from shipping, this is just a reality of shipping large blow-moulded thin-walled vessels. But dont panic, these fermenters are designed to endure minor deformations such as this. This was a necessary implementation into the design so that they can withstand some accidental suction from cold crashing and rough handling in transit without compromising their integrity and ability to endure high pressures. All small dents will push out and settle with use and positive pressure and are only an issue and warrant replacement in the rare event they start to show white stress patterns or have damaged the plastic.

We have also made this video here to show you how to get the Dump Valve Together.  Some people get a bit confused with the reverse left hand thread so we thought we should make a video explaining this.

Are you interested in fitting a glycol heating or cooling coil for temp control then you might want to check out this product.  This coil can fit into the lid of these fermenters and it's a complete kit that includes the duotight bulkhead fittings.  To see the Temp Twister Stainless Coil Click Here.

If you want to fit a thermowell to the lid of this fermenter then you should really check out this 60cm Stainless Thermowel that includes the bulkhead fitting so you can mount this into the lid of this Fermenter.

Here is another video from a product reviewer called David Heath who has a great channel based in Europe:

For some really handy tips and tricks you can see a video from Gash.  He is a total legend:

We sometimes get asked what is the easiest way to clean the dump valve seal on the FermZilla conical unitank and this is definitely the easiest way.  Soak in PBW cleaning solution (for 5 minutes max) then use a high pressure hose to squirt around the seal and this releases any built up hops etc.  See video below.

best fermentation device on the market hands down!

"The most versatile piece of equipment in my brewery. Pressure ferment, dry hop, pressure transfer, so many options all in an oxygen free environment for a fraction of the cost of heavy stainless equipment. Large butterfly valve prevents sticking even with large amounts of hops."

"Very happy with the unit I brew under pressure and it smells great. Collection thing is a bit tricky to get on, gotta loob it up"

So, I love it but...

"It's a great idea, a cost effective way of fermenting under pressure and transferring to a keg oxygen free is a game changer for NEIPA's. However, you definitely need 2 of the oil filter wrench tools every time I brew I always get trub/hop particles trapped behind the spigot seal, therefore it's always necessary to remove the spigot for cleaning after every use, this process is virtually impossible without 2 tools. One of the videos alludes to the fact that alternate designs for the spigot seal are being considered, this would be great, please do this and make it a retrofit upgrade. Similarly, in the video the lad advises to undo the dump valve by torqueing against the spigot seal - DO NOT DO THIS. Yes you will get the dump valve off but now you have tightened the spigot coupling ring so hard that you will not be able to get the spigot coupling ring off to clean the spigot seal - which was the purpose of the exercise. Also its no use trying to put one tool around the neck threads of the tank since you will have lubricated the top seal, lube will have transferred to the neck threads and the tool will not grip, and no, you can't wipe the lube off and now your tool has lube on the rubber. There is no answer to this, it's all about carefully balancing the tightness of all the seals and threads and never over-tightening. Oh, yes one more thing, have a look at Gash's "The Home Brew Network" channel where he shows how to apply some strips of abrasive tape (skateboard grip tape?) to various parts to massively improve the grip of the tools. All that said and done I still wouldn't ferment my beers in anything else. Cheers."

Well designed practical fermenter

"Having brewed using buckets for years, I wanted to brew under pressure and I think that this device definitely meets my expectation. Do bear in mind that you must lube the screw threads of all the connectors to get a leak proof tight seal. I just wish that the kit came with some lube as I had a few leaks despite tightening up with the supplied tool. I would have given this tank a 5* rating if this was the case as otherwise it's met and exceeded my expectation. The bottom screw on 'dry hopping' / yeast collection jar is perfect and really is a well though out solution for flushing the oxygen when harvesting the yeast and adding any hops. Transfer to keg under pressure after fermentation is very easy and makes a huge difference. Would definitely recommend this fermenter to any aspiring home brewer."

Good

"It's a pretty handy fermenter, great for brewing under pressure and extracting trub but what an absolute piece to get fully apart to clean.. You need 3 people and an engineering degree to get the bottom seal off."
