Dextrose is ideal for the priming of beer bottles for secondary fermentation. It improves the quality of beer. It is fully fermentable and leaves a fresh, clean flavour and minimum sediment.

Dextrose is used to "prime" your beer to produce natural carbonation in a bottle/keg or can.

It can also be used to boost the amount of alcohol production from a batch of beer/cider/wine or distilling wash.

Dextrose will produce a neutral flavour, leaving your product as close to the original recipe as possible but with an extra kick of booze.

Simple sugar

"Dissolves well and provided extra kick to my pacific ale coming out at 5. 7% rather than the usual 4. 5-4. 8% Used 500g in 1L of boiled water"

Effective way to carbonate your brew

"Ferments clean leaving plenty of fizz but otherwise leaves your beer to do the talking flavour-wise. Most brewing software can help calculate the amount you need, just use the "corn sugar" option."

Q&A

Is this the same as corn sugar?
Yes, dextrose is often referred to as "corn sugar" because it is commonly derived from corn starch.
