Stout and nitro coffee requires high pressures (such as 2-3bar/40-60psi) so the product can push through the perforated disk that is inside our nitro spouts like this.
These elevated pressures require Nitrogen because if CO2 was used at this high pressure the CO2 would absorb into solution and over-carbonate your beverage (if it's stored cold). As a result Nitrogen is necessary in this application.
Nitrogen doesn't dissolve into solution like CO2. Even at elevated pressures only very small amounts of nitrogen will dissolve into solution. It doesn't form the weak hydrogen bond with the liquid like CO2 and for that reason it does not dissolve into water based beverages easily like CO2.

We also recommend purchasing a stainless steel Stout Tap, a Nuaktap compatible nitro stout spout or a creamer disk (as needed) - this is required with a nitro setup to get that beautful, cascading, creamy head.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are removing the regulator at any point you MUST use a spanner to hold the brass neck of the cylinder. Failure to do so could cause the strong adhesive glue to crack and the cylinder detaches from the fitting.

"Don't bother with this, it's poor quality, the regulator has to be in the perfect position to seal and work. I tried several times and only got it to work for a short period of time. I disconnected the regulator from the bottle ensuring I used a spanner to not damage the cylinder thread and left the cylinder stood upright for 2 weeks with nothing attached and who I came to use it, it had lost 50% of the nitrogen. Absolute waste of money."

"this is one of those "want to have" items, not a need to have, but yes I wanted the cascade effect and I love it. Works well. The regulator and Nitro seem a little difficult at times (loses pressure if over tightened) but I got it working well now!"
"I though I was careful to not over tighten it, but something didn’t work. Had my beer carbonated to 5 psi, then turned the N2 regulator to 30 psi, but as soon as I connect it, both dials go to 0. Wiggled it around a bit an managed to pour a few pints until it was empty. I’ll order another cylinder to see. Maybe this one was faulty. The beers I did manage to pour were great with the stout spout!"
