General Safety Guidelines

• Wear Eye Protection: Always wear safety glasses or goggles when refilling CO2 cylinders. Liquid CO2 is stored under extreme pressure and can cause severe freeze burns or eye injuries if unexpected venting occurs.
• Operate in a Well-Ventilated Area: CO2 gas displaces oxygen. Always carry out refilling operations in an open or well-ventilated space.
• Never Overfill: Always monitor fill weight on your digital scale during the process. Overfilled cylinders can burst when exposed to ambient heat.

Step-by-Step Refilling Guide

Preparation

1. Put On Safety Goggles: Ensure eye protection is secured before handling CO2 equipment.
2. Ensure Cylinder is Empty: Refilling a partially full bottle is inefficient. Wait until your SodaStream cylinder is completely empty before starting.
3. Freeze the SodaStream Cylinder: Place your empty SodaStream cylinder in the freezer prior to filling. Colder cylinders accept liquid CO2 much more efficiently.
4. Record Empty Weight & Place on Scale: Place your frozen SodaStream cylinder on a digital scale and zero/tare the scale to monitor the added weight.
5. Remove RPV (Residual Pressure Valve): Ensure the RPV is removed from your bulk supply cylinder valve to allow reverse flow during refilling.

Refill Process

1. Attach Adaptor Hose to Supply Tank: Screw the brass inlet of the 70cm hose adaptor securely onto your bulk CO2 supply cylinder.
2. Connect SodaStream Cylinder: Push the Quick Connect fitting of the SodaStream cylinder (resting on your scale) into the refilling adaptor, then tighten the grub screw / release valve.
3. Invert & Open Valve: Invert (turn upside down) your main CO2 supply cylinder so liquid CO2 can flow, then open the valve on the supply cylinder.
4. Monitor Weight & Fill: Watch the digital scale. Allow liquid CO2 to flow until the scale reaches the maximum rated net capacity printed on the SodaStream cylinder.
5. Close & Vent: Close the valve on the supply cylinder. Open the grub screw / release valve on the adaptor to safely bleed off trapped line pressure.
6. Disconnect: Pull your refilled SodaStream cylinder out of the adaptor. Re-verify the final filled weight on your scale.
