Stop Messy Boil-Overs and Krausen Blow-Offs
Zilla Labs Foam Shield is a high-efficiency, food-grade anti-foam agent (Dimethylpolysiloxane) engineered to reduce surface tension and instantly suppress unwanted foam. Whether controlling hot-side boil-overs in the kettle, managing aggressive krausen during primary fermentation, or protecting stills from column puking, Foam Shield maximises vessel capacity without impacting the flavour, aroma, or final head retention of your beverage.
Key Benefits for Brewers & Distillers
-
Prevents Boil-Overs: Keeps kettle boils under control to avoid messy stovetop or brewery overflows.
-
Controls Krausen Overflows: Prevents vigorous fermentations from surging into airlocks and blow-off tubes.
-
Prevents Still Puking: Stabilises distillation washes to keep liquid out of the column and condenser.
-
Zero Impact on Final Head Retention: Adsorbs onto yeast cells and trub, dropping out of suspension completely during transfer.
How Dimethylpolysiloxane Anti-Foam Works
Foam Shield functions by disrupting liquid surface tension, causing rapidly expanding gas bubbles to collapse before they build into a persistent foam bed. Because Dimethylpolysiloxane naturally binds to yeast cell walls and kettle solids during processing, the active compound is completely removed with the trub bed during cold storage and transfer—leaving your finished beer's foam stability intact.
Dosage & Application Directions
-
Boil Application: Add 5 to 10 drops directly to the kettle during the boil to arrest or prevent boil-overs.
-
Fermentation: Add a few drops to the fermenter at yeast pitch to manage high krausen.
-
Distillation: Add a few drops to the wash before heating to protect your still column.
-
Application Note: Shake vigorously before use to ensure complete emulsion dispersion.
Storage & Handling
-
Temperature: Store below 32°C. Do not freeze.
-
Environment: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
