Beautiful, but a pain to use
"This has the feel of quality. It looks great, it feels robust. A simply design of two pieces of stainless steel, a spring and a marble, then the silicone tubing. But it is a pain to use. Make sure you practice with water first. *Do not try to siphon your brew on your first use of this*. It is not as straightforward to use as the video tutorial shows. It can take a significant amount of 'jiggling' before it spontanously starts autosiponing. You will know when it is working, because the marble will start oscillating faster than the speed you are 'jiggling'. It might just be worth getting a turkey baster, sticking it into the silicone tubing and sucking until you get some flow, as the jiggling can cause a lot of turbulence in the fluid and agitate the lees. Also the clanging of the steel against a glass carboy/demijon is not a good feeling. Positives: It will probably last a lifetime When it works, it has a high flow rate Metal and silicone. No plastic Negatives: A PITA to get started No filter on the bottom. so racking brews with fruit/chunks risks clogging the spring/ball mechanism, requiring disassembly and cleaning."
